A MADANI Love Letter to the Prabowo Administration: Ecological Anxiety Amid the Grip of Oligarchic Dynasties

This document presents MADANI’s reflection on Indonesia’s democratic and environmental conditions ahead of a new administration. It argues that democratic decline and oligarchic influence weaken natural resource protection.

Throughout 2024, issues such as deforestation, nickel mining expansion, national strategic projects, and forest fires placed heavy pressure on ecosystems. Many development policies are seen as prioritizing economic growth over ecological sustainability and community rights.

MADANI urges the new government to strengthen environmental governance, halt deforestation, and pursue a just energy transition. Public participation, indigenous rights protection, and law enforcement are viewed as crucial for Indonesia’s environmental future.
