What is FOLU Net Sink?

In addition to committing to controlling Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions as stated in the Republic of Indonesia's Nationally Determined Contribution and the Long-Term Strategy for Low Carbon and Climate Resilience (LTS-LCCR) 2050 , Indonesia has also set a carbon net sink  ambition by 2030 specifically for the forest and land sector.

Forestry and other land uses (FOLU) net sink is a situation where the amount of carbon absorbed by the forestry and land sector is equal to or greater than the emissions it produces. This target is highly ambitious for Indonesia, considering that the forestry and land sector still contributes 40% of total GHG emissions.
