Climate Change Budget in 2018 Reaching Rp 109.7 Trillion
The Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) has just launched the Public Funding Book for Indonesia’s Climate Change Control in 2016-2018. In the book it is explained that the budget for mitigation and adaptation of climate change in 2018 reached Rp. 109.7 Trillion, or about 4.9% of the total government budget.
The budget is related to other government agendas, such as food and energy security, the provision of public transportation infrastructure and dams, as well as self-reliance and flats.
Meanwhile, Indonesia has a relatively high vulnerability to the impact of climate change and the estimation of its economic losses will reach Rp. 132 trillion by 2050. And the funds needed to achieve the target of lowering Indonesian Greenhouse Gas emissions turned out to be not small. Diestimated funds needed are Rp. 3,461 Trillion in 2030.
For the NDC (Nationally Determined Contribution) update has now been completed, but is still waiting for further proceedings in the relevant ministries, before being delivered to the UNFCCC Secretariat.
