Review Of Presidential Instruction No.6 Of 2019-2024 On The National Action Plan Of Sustainable Palm Oil Plantations
Palm oil is a non-oil and gas commodity that plays an important role in the national economy and gets special attention from President Joko Widodo.
During this time, Indonesia’s palm oil sector faces major challenges in the context of governance, the environment, and social impacts that affect the image of palm oil in the international world. As one of the three new rules to support the development of the national palm oil industry (two others are Presidential Presidential SPISO and PP Perkebunan Nusantara), on November 22, 2019 President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Instruction No. 6 Year 2019 on the National Action Plan of Oil Palm Oil Plantation Sustainable Year 2019-2024.
The goal of the Presidential Inpres is quite extensive, ranging from the completion of the status of oil palm plantations, empowerment of planters, the use of oil palm as new renewable energy, increased oil palm-related diplomacy, to the acceleration of the achievement of oil palm plantations.
Indonesia is sustainable.
In general, this Inpres includes five (5) mandated areas for 16 State Officials, namely Strengthening data, coordination, and infrastructure; Capacity building and planting capacity; Management and environmental monitoring; Plantation governance and dispute management; and Acceleration of the implementation of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Plantation Certification (ISPO) and increased access to palm oil products.
