In early October 2018, the Election Commission (KPU) has announced the vision and mission of both presidential and vice presidential candidates to the public. As a representative of civil society, the Sustainable Madani Foundation focused on bridging between parties (government, private, and community) to improve the state of Indonesia’s forests and peat, having highlighted the vision and mission documents of both critically to understand the perspective and commitment of prospective leaders for the environment. What are the environmental issues that have been or have not been accommodated in the vision and mission of both, as well as what kind of commitment they must have for the improvement of environmental and community conditions as a whole?

This study describes the analysis of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno’s vision and mission document related to the environment with a focus on five key issues, namely sustainable management of forests and peat, land tenure inequality, law enforcement, protection and recognition of indigenous peoples, and new renewable energy (EBT). The study identified the points of action programs found in Prabowo-Sandi’s vision and mission related to these issues.
