BPDLH Launched, Will the Environment, Forests, and Nature Be More Sustainable?
Did you know, on October 9, 2019, the government launched the Environmental Fund Management Agency or BPDLH for short.
The BPDLH is based on Government Regulation 46/2017 concerning Environmental Economic Instruments and Presidential Regulation 77/2018 concerning Environmental Fund Management. The technical regulation is Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 137/2019 concerning the Organization and Governance of Environmental Funds.
The BPDLH itself will manage funds related to forestry, energy and mineral resources, carbon trading, environmental services, industry, transportation, agriculture, maritime affairs and fisheries, and other environmental sectors. Previously, these funds were distributed across several ministries and institutions (K/L), with various programs spread across different K/L.
The BPDLH will systematically collect and distribute funding for environmental protection. Funding for the BPDLH will come from both public and private sources, both domestically and internationally, including bilateral support, international institutions, the private sector, and philanthropy. The distribution will focus on small grants, green/environmentally friendly investments, and capacity building for both communities and officials.
Mainstreaming (climate change issues in national development programs have been and will continue to be implemented, so it is hoped that environmental and climate change issues will become part of national development planning and implementation.
