The 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP25) was completed in Madrid, Spain on December 2-15, 2019. The blackouts were the talks, making the COP25 extended for two days until Sunday, December 15.

From the results of the negotiations, there are three major expectations of the COP25 Madrid, namely: PertamaFirst, there are strong signals from COP and parties, especially the largest emitting countries (major polluters) to increase their climate commitments and ambitions in accordance with the target of the Paris Agreement in 2020.

Second, the Paris Agreement rules are completed, especially related to market and non-market mechanisms by upholding the integrity of the environment and human rights. Third, there is a commitment of funding from developed countries to finance the loss and damage experienced by the most vulnerable countries (loss and damage).

Amid these big expectations, many express their disillusionment with the results of the climate talks in Madrid, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, because the three of the above were not achieved.
