REDD+ Update Report January I 2018 Regulations Regarding NDC Implementation

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry's Directorate General of Climate Change Control (DJPPI) launched 13 regulations and 22 guidance documents related to NDC implementation during the Climate Festival in January 2018. However, the long-awaited Ministerial Regulation on REDD+ Implementation has not yet been released, despite an initial target of January 2018 for its issuance.

A notable regulation is the Ministerial Decree on NDC Implementation Monitoring (SK 679/2017), which establishes a Steering Team and Technical Team for monitoring but does not mention the participation of civil society or communities. Another key program is Proklim (Climate Village Program), a joint adaptation and mitigation program managed by the MoEF, which, unlike REDD+, is more ready for implementation. The ultimate goal is for community-based mitigation and adaptation actions, once registered in Proklim and/or the National Registry System (SRN), to be counted toward the country's NDC achievement.
