Social Forestry Helps Meet Indonesia's Climate Commitment
One of the national priority programs of the Government of Indonesia is that social forestry has great potential to help Indonesia fulfill its climate commitments, of course nationally, the achievement of Indonesia’s climate commitment through NDC.
The NDC target currently requires countries to reduce emissions in the forestry sector by 497 Mton CO2e with its own efforts of up to 650 Mton CO2e with international support from the BAU Level by 2030. This means that the sector has a task load reaching about 60% of Indonesia unconditionally and the conditional emissions of the reduction target by 2030.
Many of these targets are planned to be met with reducing both planned and unplanned deforestation. To meet the NDC unconditional target, from 2018 to 2030 Indonesia must maintain deforestation not exceeding 3.963 million hectares with only 0.845 million hectares left to meet
Conditional target.
