This week, the media is increasingly santer to highlight the issue of handling the climate crisis ahead of the COP25 climate change conference which will be held in Madrid December 2-13, 2019.

Related to this, Luluk’s Update found news about the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) that will encourage increased country’s ambitions both in filling the gaps and achieving targets below 2 degrees and in providing support in all strategic sectors.

Indonesia itself has a mission in this COP25, the mission is to fight for Indonesia’s interests and contribute to global efforts, including in the discussion of detailed arrangements of Capitalities, Procedures and Guidelines (MPGs) for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, and encourages negotiations to focus on the preparation and delivery of modalities and guidance that can facilitate action, as well as ensure that not only the achievement of targets, but also consider the diversity of developing countries.

Meanwhile, the United States (US) and China are starting to move away from the world's climate commitments. Why did this happen?

The results of the UNEP research, Stockholm Institute of Environment, the International Institute for Sustainable Development, the Institute for Foreign Development, and the CICERO Center for International Climate and Climate Analysis and Climate Analysis showed China and the U.S. plan to produce fossil fuels by 2030 at a rate between 50-120 percent above the Paris Agreement target.
