The Director General of Climate Change Control, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ruandha Agung Sugardiman, said that the government has completed updating Indonesia's NDC.

Indonesia's updated NDC highlights four key points. First, Indonesia maintains its GHG emission reduction target of 29 percent to 41 percent by 2030, consistent with the elaboration in the NDC Mitigation Road Map.

Second, information updates are in line with current conditions. This includes items related to the Vision and Mission of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet 2019. Third, a new element in the NDC is the explanation of areas that still require detailed information, such as adaptation elements, implementation tools, and the transparency framework.

Fourth, there are new commitments related to oceans, wetlands such as mangroves, coral and so on, commonly called blue carbon, as well as community settlements in the adaptation element.

Currently, Indonesia is finalizing its long-term strategy (LTS) ahead of the 26th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow, England, in November 2021. Prior to COP26 in the UK, there were three climate change mitigation scenarios: the Extended NDC or Current Policy Scenario (CPOS) for the energy sector only, the Transition Scenario (TRNS), and the Low Carbon Compatible Scenario (LCCP) with Paris Agreement targets.
